Down the street from my airbnb is the national museum for the Maya in Merida. Really beautiful place to visit prior to visiting archeological sites here. And the walk today was super nice too. I had wanted this day out just going and the museum seemed like the perfect walk for me not only to see artifacts and read history but also to see now here in Merida.
Inside the museum was quite beautiful. The rooms and displays were spread out so one could easily see the information and maintain social distancing while visiting. Lighting was really nice too and it called attention to the artifacts and displays while not casting a harsh light which would cause problems with photography inside.
Merida is truly a beautiful city to visit. So many restaurants and parks and sometimes a wonderful and peaceful vibe even in the midst of busy weekend and holiday times. I stopped a few times at small parks and just sat and watched everything from traffic to people visiting restaurants and cafes.
Then after some hours, took the reverse course of the walk home and stopped at an Oxxo Store and got a beer and some other stuff I needed.
Tomorrow starts week 2
Wow! It seems like when I stay places the time starts kinda slow sometimes but not here. I have nothing really on some list of things to do so the walking and seeing is just finding a road to walk, a park to sit in and read on the kindle, a mall to wander through or a restaurant to park in and eat whatever stuff I happen to see. There is this steak restaurant down the street I may try because I like steak a lot and it happens to be quite close.
So anyways, that was my Sunday before Christmas. Wonderful walking, a museum, a few nice parks to sit in and just a wonderful and busy but yet really nice city to walk in.
